Resident Involvement Strategy

Our Resident Involvement and Empowerment Strategy sets out our commitment  to provide a range of opportunities, complimented by appropriate training and information, to empower residents to contribute effectively in decision making processes.

We recognize that all residents are different and want to be involved to various degrees.  We hope that the range of opportunities and information we offer makes involvement appealing and accessible, and in turn that we reap the benefit of their contribution to shape our service and direction.

  • The objectives of our strategy are to:
  • Offer all residents the choice and opportunity to be involved in the way services are developed and delivered.
  • Empower participants to contribute confidently and effectively.
  • Increase residents’ confidence that their views are taken into account
  • Improve value for money in the service by streamlining activities and effectively using resources.
  • Contribute to achieving our regulatory obligations.

We have identified 6 commitments through which we will deliver these objectives;

1. Pick and Mix - We will make a range of options available so residents can be involved at a pace and level which interests them.

2. Empowered and Engaged – We will make available relevant training, information and support to engage participants to make informed decisions and a valuable contribution.

3. No Pain No Gain – We will enhance the mechanisms we have for residents to scrutinize and review performance.

4. Stop Look and Listen - The primary purpose of engaging with residents is to listen, appreciate and respond to their views. We will evidence how we have done this.

5. Voice and Choice – We will optimize the extent and range of choice residents have in the services provided.

6. Money Well Spent – We will make resources available to deliver and develop our resident involvement objectives.
